Director of the Boilermaker History Preservation Department
International Brotherhood of Boilermakers
Dave Stewart is the Director of the Boilermaker History Preservation Department. He joined the Brotherhood in March 2014 and is a member of Local 627 (Phoenix). Stewart oversees the historic assets accumulated by the union over its 140-year history. He and the BHPD team also create a wide spectrum of projects. These include sculptures, awards, displays, signage and other works that represent the Boilermakers’ history of craftsmanship.
Following his military service as a U.S. Marine, Stewart worked in steel fabrication. He later attended the University of Nebraska at Kearney, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1993. Over a 30-year period, he worked as an art director for several creative firms, including an advertising agency, design studios and interactive agencies. In those capacities, he produced creative designs and led teams of creative professionals working for U.S. companies, including Fortune 500 firms. In 2001, Stewart co-founded Propaganda3, a Kansas City-based interactive design agency, where he served as creative director and interactive designer until his employment with the Boilermakers.
