Susan Bird is President of The McAteer Group of Companies with offices in Alberta and Ontario. She is responsible for providing advanced governance, administration oversight and consulting services to trustees governing multi-employer life and health and pension trust funds. She has been involved in the development of governance, funding and finance education programs designed for multi-employer trustees. She graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in economics. She is past-chair of the Canadian Board of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, and she is the vice chair of the Financial Services Regulatory Authority (FRSA) TACC Committee for multi-employer pension plans. She received the ICD.D designation from the University of Toronto Rotman School of Management Institute of Corporate Directors.
Bird was recently elected the 2024-2025 chair of the World Pension Alliance, a global organization that represents the interests of over 400 million pension plan participants and over USD $10 trillion in assets. She is a director and treasurer of MEBCO – the Multi-Employer Benefit Plan Council of Canada – the national organization that lobbies and educates governments and regulators on issues impacting health and pension plans. MEBCO represents approximately 1 million multi-employer pension and benefit plan participants and their governing board of trustees.
Bird is a member of the senior leadership team of the Benefit Solutions team at People Corporation that embraces The McAteer Group of Companies, Benefit Plan Administrators and Coughlin & Associates Ltd.
