Erica Stewart is the National Coordinator for Women in the Trades Initiatives, M.O.R.E. Work Investment Fund, and an International Rep. Stewart is a former president of Local 693 (Pascagoula, Mississippi) and recently served as chief steward and apprenticeship coordinator for the Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee at Huntington Ingalls Shipbuilding Industries. In 1997, after a four-year career in the U.S. Army, Stewart joined L-693 and started working at Ingalls Shipyard as a ship fitter and later as a certified structural welder. She became a steward in 2001 and president of the local in 2014. As president, she led an organizing campaign and increased the local’s membership to over 2,000 members. In 2015, she was elected as Financial Secretary and Council Organizer for the Pascagoula Metal Trade Executive Council. She is a 2018 graduate of the Harvard Trade Union Program.
