Gary Scribner is Assistant Executive Director, Technical, for NBBI. He started his career as a Boiler Technician in the United States Navy in 1975. In 1985, Scribner qualified as a Steam Generator Plant Inspector. Stationed on the USS America CV60, he was assigned as the battle group inspector. In 1991, he received a commission as a Chief Warrant Officer as an Engineering Repair Officer serving on conventional and nuclear aircraft carriers as Quality Assurance Officer and Repair Officer.
Scribner joined the Missouri State Fire Marshals office in 2002 as a Boiler/Pressure Vessel Inspector and was promoted to the position of Chief Boiler Inspector in 2006, where he went on to serve on various standards committees, including ASME Section IV, CSD-1, The National Board Inspection Code and the International Mechanical Code.
Scribner joined the National Board in January of 2014 as the Manager of Technical Services and was promoted to his current position in January 2019. He continues to work on ASME’s committees today in Conformity Assessment, including membership on TOMC (Technical Oversight Management Committee), and currently Chair of the Board on Conformity Assessment (BCA).
