Johnny Baca is a dedicated union leader with over 20 years of experience advocating for working people in the labor movement. As Director of M.O.R.E. Work Investment Fund Initiatives at the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, he leads national efforts in marketing, organizing, recruitment and employment initiatives that support membership growth and create job opportunities. His work has strengthened industry relationships and positioned the Boilermakers for long-term sustainability.
Baca began his union career with OPEIU Local 277 in 2004 and later worked at Union Insurance Group as a member of Local Lodge 1 in Chicago. He currently serves as Business Agent for Local Lodge 2080, supporting industry growth throughout the Western United States. He has also played a key role in California government affairs, advocating for Boilermaker jobs in emerging energy industries such as hydrogen and carbon capture.
Baca holds a Bachelor of Arts in economics from the University of California, Berkeley, and an MBA from the University of Southern California, where he wrote his master’s thesis on the need for organized labor in the wake of unethical business practices that jeopardize middle-class families and their incomes.
